“You should try a shōnen action/adventure series” (scrolls down the page) “and don’t just write-off the media format. You might actually like it.”

“But manga? I mean, sure, I like watching the anime genre, but I don’t think the action/adventure type that I watch would translate well into a comic—”

“They’re not comics. There’s a difference between American comics and manga; there are other formats, too, like graphic novels, webtoons—”

“Fine. I just don’t think I would enjoy reading what I like to watch.”

“Have you ever tried it? What about Bleach? Or any of the other ones that are lagging? I think the manga’s finished, but they’ve yet to release a new anime season. Don’t you want to find out what happens?”

“Spoilers, but yeah. I think it’s getting to that point where I’d rather read the manga than wait for a new season.”

“That’s the spirit” (scrolls down).

6 months later

“You look tired.”

“I just marathoned like 50 chapters last night.”

“I’ve created a monster. You’re worse than when I started. So, how are you liking this manga?”

“It started out nice with some magical realism, but I’m not really sure what the mangaka’s doing now. It’s like turning into some weird historical fantasy. Still enjoyable, but the flow’s not right…. What?”

“Just never thought we’d ever have a conversation like this. Ever heard of fan fiction?”

“No. Do not even think about getting me started on something new. I barely got any sleep last night.”

“Pfft, you can blame me for getting you to read, but I didn’t tell you to pull a marathon.”

“Whatever. I have to go to campus today, and I’m worried I won’t be able to stay awake.”

“I’ll pray for you.”

“How is that going to help?”

“Have you ever tried it?”
